2025 Swim Lessons
Registration begins the first Monday in March and runs until classes are full. Registration for each session closes 1 week before the session begins. Register online by clicking the button above. To pay with check, register in person at the Recreation Office, located at 203 N. 600 W., Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 5:00, and Friday 8:00 to noon. The Recreation Office does not accept cash on-site.
Lessons are 30 minutes, taught Monday through Thursday for two (2) weeks. The cost is $35 for the Parent & Tot class (6 months to 3 years old) and $45 for all other classes.
Choose a Session & Class (not all classes offered at all times)
Five sessions:
Session I June 2nd - June 12th
Session II June 16th - June 26th
Session III June 30th - July 10th
Session IV July 14th - July 24th** There will be class on July 24th.
Session V July 28th - August 7th
Five times in each session:
8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
9:10 - 9:40 a.m.
9:50 - 10:20 a.m.
10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
11:10 - 11:40 a.m.
*Not all classes are offered during all time slots. Please plan accordingly.

If a child is registered for an incorrect level, we reserve the right to move the child to the correct level. If there is not an open spot in the correct level, the child can be removed from the session with the fee credited to the account.
Star Babies (Parent/Tot) — 6 months to 3 years
This class is designed to familiarize young children to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the Starfish Aquatics Swim School. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own.
Children must be at least 6 months old, and a parent or other caregiver MUST accompany EACH child in the water.
All children 3 and under are REQUIRED to wear a swim diaper and plastic pants. If you arrive unprepared we cannot allow you to participate.
Swim School— ages 3+
Swim White: Readiness
Typically these are our youngest swimmers! Children in the Swim White class may have never had a non-parent/child swimming lesson before. Many have never been in the water without an adult holding them. This class takes place in the zero-entry (beach) area of the pool.
Swimming Objectives: Comfort in water (up to waist deep) and comfortable sumbersion of head underwater.
Safety Objectives: Ask permission before entering the water.
Swim Red: Floating & Air Recovery
For children aged 3 & up who have passed the Swim White class or both the swimming & safety objectives of the swim white class. Children in the Swim Red class should not be fearful of the water and should be comfortable to attend class without a parent or adult in the pool with them. This class takes place in the slide catch pool.
Swimming Objectives: Unassisted Floating & Swim Red Sequence: Jump in from side of pool with full submersion and roll to back and kick for 5 seconds.
Safety Objectives: Put on a lifejacket, float on back and kick for one length of the classroom area.
Swim Yellow: Forward Movement
For children who have passed the Swim Red class or both the swimming and safety objectives of the Swim Red class. Children in the Swim Yellow class should not be fearful of the water and should be able to float independently for at least 3 seconds. This class takes place in the shallow end of the lap area, just over the wall from the slide catch pool.
Swimming Objectives: Swim-roll-swim at least 10 feet.
Safety Objectives: Tread water for 10 seconds.
Swim Blue: Streamlines & Side Breathing
For children who have passed the Swim Yellow class or both the swimming and safety objectives of the Swim Yellow class. Children in the Swim Blue class should not be fearful of the water and know how to swim-float-swim at least 10 feet. This class takes place in the far corner of the shallow end in the lap area.
Swimming Objectives: Jump in with full submersion, recover to side glide and kick 10ft.
Safety Objectives: Reach-or-Throw DON'T GO & Calling Emergency Medical Services.
Swim Green: Recreational Water Competency
For children who have passed the Swim Blue class or both the swimming and safety objectives of the Swim Blue class. Children in the Swim Green class should not be fearful of the water and know how to swim-float-swim and side glide. This class takes place in the middle-west side of the lap area, just before the deep-end/diving area.
Swimming Objectives: Competency Sequence: Ask, Jump, Tread, Swim 50m
Safety Objectives: Disorienting entires and recoveries.
Starfish Swim School — 3 years and up

Starfish Stroke School — graduates of Swim School


Stroke School Class Schedule & Information
Strokes 1: Freestyle, Backstroke, and Diving
Students will learn & practice both Freestyle and Backstroke. Students will also work on divin and head-first pool entries from the side of the pool, starting blocks, and diving boards. Strokes 1 takes place in the deep end of our lap pool and utilizes 25m lengths of the pool. (Short lengths)
Strokes 1 is ONLY offered during the 11:10 am time slot each session.
Strokes 2: Butterfly, Breaststroke, and Endurance
Students will learn & practice both Breaststroke and Butterfly. Students will also work on endurance in Freestyle and Backstroke. Strokes 2 takes place in the deep end of our lap pool and utilizes 25m lengths and 50m laps of the pool. (Short laps)
Strokes 2 is ONLY offered during the 10:30 am time slot each session.
Strokes 3: Long Course Endurance and Advanced Stroke Technique
Students will learn & practice advanced endurance and stroke technique using the Olympic Length lap lanes of the pool (50m) in addition to the deep end lanes of the pool (25m.) Students will practice 25m and 50m lengths in addition to 100m laps of the pool.
Strokes 3 is ONLY offered during the 8:30am time slot each session.

$5 non-refundable fee will be applied to all refunds (per child per activity)
During registration period: Full refund (except $5)
After registration has ended: 50% refund
After program has begun: no refund will be offered
