Sidewalk Construction

Sidewalk construction has begun with the goal of making safer pedestrian routes throughout the city. The initial focus is on the area around Golden Spike Elementary.

Sidewalks will be constructed in the public right-of-way. Landscaping within the right-of-way will be disturbed, and trees and bushes may need to be removed if they are in the right-of-way. Landscaping outside the right-of-way that is damaged will be repaired or replaced by the contractor.

Many water meters will need to be moved to accommodate the new sidewalks. New meters will be installed by the contractor in the right-of-way. The contractor will provide notice to the homeowner of the temporary shutdown while the meter is connected.

Drive approaches may need to be reconfigured to accommodate and connect to sidewalks.

Road closures will not be necessary except for Mountain View Drive and 400 North while the storm drain is moved. Crews will work to minimize the disruption to local traffic.

Current construction and estimated completion dates

  • September 10: Finish pouring curb on Lindon Drive

  • September 11-13: Pour sidewalk along Lindon Drive from 828 East to 716 East

  • September 11-13: Pour sidewalk along 100 North from 1000 East to 1049 East

  • September 16-20: Pour sidewalk along 1000 East from 110 North to 138 North

  • September 23-26: Pour sidewalk along 1000 East from Beecher Avenue to 200 North

  • October 1-4: Pour ADA ramps at 110 N 1000 East and at 138 N Beecher

  • October 1-4: Excavation along 400 North from 500 East to Mountain View Drive

  • October 7-11: Pour ADA ramps at 148 N 1000 East and at the corner of Mountain View and Lindon Drive

  • October 7-11: Landscaping along 1000 East and Lindon Drive (landscaping to continue throughout remainder of project)

  • October 15-18: Pour sidewalk along 400 North from 500 East to Mountain View Drive

  • October 21-25: Pour ADA ramps at 400 North and 500 East and at 600 East and Mountain View Drive

  • October 28-29: Finish remaining landscaping

  • West side of 500 East between 100 North and Box Elder Middle School

  • West side of 800 East between 200 North and 100 North

  • North side of 200 North between 900 East and 1000 East

  • West side of Mountain View Drive between Lindon Drive and 300 North

Crossings

Crossings will be installed where needed to connect new sidewalks to other new and existing sidewalks. These are marked in white at the following locations:

  • South side of Lindon Drive, crossing Mountain View Drive

  • West side of Mountain View Drive, crossing 400 North

  • North side of 400 North, crossing 600 East

  • North side of 200 North, crossing 900 East

  • North side of 200 North, crossing 1000 East

  • West side of 800 East, crossing Beecher Avenue
